Product manager & former designer

Jani Rostoll — product and design thinking that helps you decide what to build, and what to cut.

The expensive part of a software project usually isn't the build — it's realising mid-build you're solving the wrong problem. I help you define the right direction first, then hand it off to build with confidence.

Clear written scope, disciplined prioritisation, and a structured handoff to developers when you are ready to build.

Partners: If you build for clients or in a studio, the same clarity helps: scope you can quote and plan from. I work with developers and studios as peers — get in touch when you want discovery before a quote or kickoff, or when scope needs tightening mid-project.

How I work

Discovery, specification, handoff

  1. Discovery

We align on the problem, the audience, and constraints — in plain language, using story mapping so we keep the journey in view, not only a list of features.

  2. Specification and validation

Priorities, a written spec or brief, and where it adds value, a prototype you can interact with.

  3. Handoff

When you are ready, I transition to your team or a development partner. I do not scope multi-year build engagements.

Who this is for

Owner-led businesses

Owner-led businesses with a software idea and enough at stake to want the direction right before a developer starts the clock. You don't need anything written down — if you can describe what you're trying to solve, that's a fine place to begin. If that sounds like you, we should speak.
